Description:

The University of South Carolina invites applications for an Assistant
Professor tenure-track position in the Spanish Program within the
Languages, Literatures, and Cultures Department. We seek candidates with
interests in Hispanic studies in a global or transnational/transcultural
context. This position responds to the need to address literary, cultural,
political, and linguistic interaction between Spain, the Americas and
Africa. The successful candidate will teach in the Spanish - and
potentially Portuguese - programs at the both the undergraduate and
graduate level. The ideal candidate should demonstrate scholarship and
teaching interests in language and culture/society, and/or in the social,
gender and ethnic identities of the Hispanic world, including the United
States. The Department also houses the Comparative Literature program, and
the College of Arts and Sciences houses the Linguistics Program. Expertise
in the area of translation is also desirable. Please send cover letter, cv,
and three letters of recommendation to Recruitment Coordinator, Dept. of
