We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.
In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.
To post to LINGUIST, use our convenient web form at
http://linguistlist.org/LL/posttolinguist.html.

I've 3 questions on this topic.
1. How can I ensure that the communication strategy that I've identified
belongs to that particular strategy only? Can I say that it is based on the
description of the strategy and the triangulation method that I used?
(retrospective interviews (twice), observation of task, the subjects & I
watched the recordings of the task & I showed them the transcripts).
2. I see 'echoing' and 'other-repetition' strategies as two different
strategies. Any opinion on this?
3. I am not interested in determining the relationship between the
communication strategies and the frequency of occurrence, but I still did a
frequency count of the strategies to quantify the data. How do I defend
this point?
Any feedback is most welcomed. Thank you.

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University and as such
can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is a registered 501(c)
Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number is 38-6005986. These donations
can be offset against your federal and sometimes your state tax return (U.S. tax
payers only). For more information visit the IRS Web-Site, or contact your
financial advisor.
Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will match any
gift you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this entails your contacting
your human resources department and sending us a form that the EMU Foundation fills
in and returns to your employer. This is generally a simple administrative procedure
that doubles the value of your gift to LINGUIST, without costing you an extra penny.
Please take a moment to check if your company operates such a program.
Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
