Feidhmí will host this large international conference on language policy and
language learning immediately after a meeting of the AILA Executive Board and
International Committee in the university. 

Call for Papers

Deadline extended- 18 December 2008

The conference is concerned with all aspects of language policy and the learning
of languages. It will address the status and form of languages as well as
acquisition policies pertaining to their teaching and learning. It will welcome
papers, posters and panels on promoting and managing language policy and
research on the development, implementation and effects of language policy in
all regions of the world. The organisers will particularly welcome studies that
contribute to language policy theory, both in regard to language learning and
other domains.

Abstracts for Panels, Papers and Posters are invited. Details are available at
the conference website.

Meeting Description:

The 33rd Annual Penn Linguistics Colloquium  (March 27-29, 2009)
The PLC is a conference in linguistics run by the graduate students in the
Department of Linguistics at the University of Pennsylvania.  

We hope to feature a special workshop focused on methods of modeling linguistic
and biological change.

More details about the conference will be posted in the coming weeks. 

Call for Papers: 

Deadline: Wednesday, December 10 2008

This year's keynote speaker will be Elisabeth Selkirk, of the University of
Massachusetts. Professor Selkirk's address is made possible by a grant from the
Fund to Encourage Women (FEW) of the Trustees' Council of Penn Women.

The PLC has posted a call for papers. Papers on any topic in linguistics and
associated fields are welcome. Speakers will have 20 minutes for their
presentations and 5 minutes for discussion and questions.

Deadline: Abstracts are due by the end of the day on Wednesday, December 10,
2008 (midnight EST that night). Notification of acceptance/rejection will be
given on Wednesday, January 21, 2009.

Length: Please limit abstracts to one page, single- or double-spaced, using 1"
margins on all sides and 11pt font size. An additional page may be used for
examples, references, and tables. Do not include your name or affiliation within
the abstract.

Proceedings: Conference proceedings will be published as a volume of the Penn
Working Papers in Linguistics, which is now a free-access online publication.
Speakers will be invited to provide electronic and camera-ready copies of their
papers after the Colloquium.

Abstract Submission: To submit an abstract, you must follow these steps:

1. To begin, go to our abstract submission system:

2. Click "Abstract submission" on the page, and enter your paper title and
upload a PDF version of your abstract. Only PDFs will be accepted.
3. Do not include your name or affiliation in the abstract/file name!
4. Fill in the blank to provide the name of authors, email addresses, and
affiliation.
5. Choose one from the given abstract classifications.
6. You will receive an email confirming your abstract submission. Abstracts will
be reviewed anonymously.
