Description:
The UCL Centre for Human Communication is pleased to announce that it has been
awarded a quota ESRC studentship for the academic year commencing October 2008
and is additionally able to nominate applications for an ESRC open competition
studentship.
ESRC studentships provide up to four years full funding for postgraduate
training. They cover tuition fees and include a maintenance grant.
The CHC will consider applicants for 1+3 quota and open studentships for the
MRes in Speech, Language and Cognition followed by PhD research within the CHC
group. We will also consider applicants who have completed relevant
Masters-level training for a 3 year PhD studentship within the CHC. The CHC is a
virtual centre that exists to foster interaction amongst UCL staff who are
involved in research on human language and communication. Research includes, but
is not limited to, acquisition, the neurobiology of communication, pathology,
perception, production, rehabilitation, pragmatics, technology innovations,
theory construction and modelling.
Applicants should send a CV, covering letter and the names and email addresses
of two referees to Bronwen Evans. The covering letter should include an outline
of the applicant's principal research interests. Applications for a 3 year PhD
studentship must also outline a plan of the intended research. All applications
are subject to nationality and residency restrictions and applicants are also
asked to indicate in their submission that they meet the ESRC's nationality and
residency requirements. These requirements and other information are available
in the ESRC's Guidance Notes for Applicants, which applicants are strongly
advised to consult when completing their application. These will be available to
download during February 2008 from the ESRC website:
