Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples

The General Assembly of the United Nations adopted the United Nations
Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples on 13 September 2007, a
triumph for justice and human dignity following more than two decades of
negotiations between governments and indigenous peoples' representatives.?
The Declaration establishes a universal framework of minimum standards for
the survival, dignity, well-being and rights of the world's indigenous
peoples.

First Peoples Human Rights Coalition, a nonprofit, majority indigenous
organization, is seeking participants in a project translating the
Declaration into indigenous languages of the United States. We plan to
support Native Nations with funding and legal consultation, and publication
of the document in print, and on UN and other appropriate Web sites.
Several nations are planning to read the Declaration in their languages on
tribal radio, and at council meetings and public gatherings.

The requirements for participation in the project are that your language
has a written form, and that there are people in your community who can
read and write in your language.
