Meeting Description:
The 1st International LSP conference on Crete will provide an opportunity for language teachers to share experiences and contribute their expertise to their counterparts in Europe. It will allow us to establish a network between L.S.P. practitioners working either in Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges or Vocational Schools.
Call for Papers
Abstracts Deadline:
We invite all professionals or academics who work or have an interest in Languages for Specific Academic Purposes to submit an abstract. Practicing teachers of English, French or German are especially invited to participate. Abstracts are for a paper or workshop and they must not exceed 250 words. The deadline for Abstract Submission is 29th June 2008.
Topics of interest include but they are not limited to:
- Needs analysis
- Top-down and Bottom-up Approaches in Language for Specific Purposes
- Content-based learning
- Skills development
- Team-teaching (co-operating with content teachers)
- Input-based methodologies
- Consciousness raising activities

Abstracts are invited for papers on any topic related to the analysis of Southeast Asian languages. Abstracts should be written using a Unicode font and should consist of two or three pages as follows:

(1) Paper title
(2) Sub-field (functional, discourse, sociolinguistics, phonology, formal syntax, semantics, historical, language contact, etc.)
(3) Name(s) of author(s)
(4) Affiliation(s) of author(s)
(5) Email address for each author
Page 2
Abstract body (maximum 400 words). Be as specific as space allows, with a statement of topic, approach, and conclusions.

References (if any).
An author may submit one single and one joint abstract. In case of joint authorship, one author should be designated as the contact person. Presentations are allotted 20 minutes with 10 minutes for questions. All papers at SEALS are delivered in English. Papers presented at the meeting will be considered for publication in the Journal of the Southeast Asian Linguistics Society.
Abstracts should be submitted as email attachments in two formats, .PDF and .DOC, to Prof. Dr. Nor Hashimah Jalaluddin at the following address:
shima at pkrisc.cc.ukm.my (replace '' at '' with ''@'')
Please indicate ''Abstract for SEALS XVIII'' in the email subject heading.
