Research on linguistics linked to language disorders has a long tradition in
Europe and in the United States. In Spain this is a growing field in Applied
Linguistics, although it has expanded considerably over the last decade.
In November 2006, the Universidad de Valencia celebrated the 1st Clinical
Linguistic Conference attended by many professionals from different fields
(medicine, psychology, speech therapy and, of course, linguistics). The meeting
attracted an audience not only in Spain but also from overseas. In this second
edition we want to gain a worldwide exposure.
It is a pleasure and a great honour for the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and
for the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia to host this Conference.
We truly hope to continue with the way initiated in Valencia with so much success.
