Description:

TESOL Positions Available

The Chosun University Language Education Institute (LEI) has two full-time
openings for native English-speaking TESOL instructors beginning Sept. 1, 2008.

Teaching Duties: Teaching methodology and practicum courses and possibly
some English skills courses in the university's new graduate-level TESOL
cert. program.

Qualifications: Doctorate degree with a minimum of one year of EFL/ESL
teaching experience. 
a) Degree in Applied Linguistics (TESOL) or closely related field.
b) Teaching experience in both TESOL and EFL preferred

Documents Required for Application:
a) Resume: Including name, nationality, date of birth, gender, education,
current address, teaching and work experience. 
b) Diplomas: For all degrees from bachelor's degree; must be originals or
notarized copies by Korean consulate.
c) University transcripts: For all degrees held. One required with
application; another required by successful candidates (original, sealed
with university seal).
d) Letter of release: Required of those whose previous employment was in Korea.
e) Passport: Photocopy or scanned copy.
f) Alien registration card: Photocopy or scanned copy; for foreign
residents of Korea.
g) Health check: Including recent TBPE (aka Cannabis) test and HIV test
from designated Korean facility or international facility. [Required of
successful candidates by Immigration Service for visa issuance.]
h) Police check: Photocopy or scanned copy for application; apostilled
original required after interview. [Required of successful candidates by
Immigration Service for visa issuance.]
i) Photographs: 1 (3x4cm) required with application; 9 (3x4cm) and 2
(5x7cm) required after interview.

Evaluation Process:
a) Stage 1: Candidate's applications are evaluated on the basis of (i)
scholarship and research,  (ii) relevance of field of study to job, (iii)
teaching experience.
b) Stage 2: Interview for selected Stage-1 candidates. On-campus interview
for in-Korea candidates; 5-7 min. introductory video and/or telephone
interview for candidates outside Korea.

Additional Information:
a) The position is a non-tenure track position with expected appointment
date of September 1, 2008. Salary varies with number of hours taught, but a
schedule of 23 hr/wk provides a monthly salary of  over 3,100,000 KRW
(incl. 300,000 KWR housing allowance) in addition to two yearly bonuses of
about 1,000,000 KRW each.
b) The term of agreement is for one year. This is renewable by mutual
agreement at the end of the agreement's term.
c) Application materials will not be returned.
d) Knowingly submitting false or inaccurate information in the application
process will result in disqualification from the process.
