Description:

The Department of Foreign Languages at Western Michigan University seeks
applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor
of French beginning August 2008, pending budgetary approval.  PhD in French
or evidence of imminent award required.   Specialization in translation
preferred.  Candidates in literary, cultural, or linguistics studies are
also invited to apply; training in translation theory is required. 
Applicants should possess native or near-native fluency in French and have
a genuine commitment to teaching at all undergraduate levels.  Teaching
experience at the college level required, publications desirable. 
Responsibilities to include French language and culture courses along with
courses in area of specialty.  

The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching has placed WMU
among the 76 public institutions in the nation designated as research
universities with high research activity.  WMU is an Affirmative
