Dear LINGUIST subscribers,
I am privileged to be part of the LINGUIST crew for a second year. As a student,
it is fascinating to be at the center of the latest information about academic
linguistics. I count my experience here at LINGUIST as a large part of my graduate
education, one that has allowed me to participate actively in the online linguistics
community and see the latest activities that are going on in the field. This year
I am heading the Publications Team, and my role is to send announcements about
new linguistics publications. I also helped to coordinate the Wikipedia Update
Project, which was an international subscriber effort to edit, correct, and add
information about languages, linguistics, and famous linguists on Wikipedia.
The combination of both responsibilities has left me with little free time-- yet
each day I am excited to learn the latest news about books and articles. It's
a never-ending flow of ideas!
Above all, I feel proud to be supported in my work and education by the donations
of LINGUIST subscribers, especially since I have corresponded with only a small
percentage of subscribers and have met very few in person. Your support reminds
me that the work LINGUIST does is beneficial to linguists all over the world:
subscribers have access to a wealth of information on linguistics materials, and
graduate students like me are given an enriched educational experience. Please
continue to support LINGUIST by making a donation at
http://linguistlist.org/donation/
Thank you and best regards,
Hannah Morales

Dear LINGUIST subscribers,
2007 has been an active year for the Publications Area! As you may know, this
part of LINGUIST List sends you announcements about new linguistics books, journal
issues (tables of contents), and journal calls for papers. We work closely with
the Reviews Team, which posts subscriber reviews of books that have been announced
on LINGUIST. In 2007 we emailed our subscribers information about the following
new publications:
*729 books
*135 book reviews
*273 journal tables of contents
*121 journal calls for papers
*194 dissertations
We also added almost 200 older book titles to our searchable directory. This
means that our current database allows you to search through a total of about 6700
books, 1500 dissertation abstracts, 2000 book reviews, and 1900 academic papers.
Each entry is classified to make it searchable by language and linguistic subfield.
Also, if you are looking for information about linguistics journals or publishers
that publish linguistics titles, our site also contains entries for approximately
500 journals and 500 publishers. To browse or search through any of these areas,
visit the Publications Index at:
http://linguistlist.org/pubs/index.html
Additionally, we've introduced an updated reviews system and welcomed new Reviews
Editor Randall Eggert of the University of Utah. We developed Cambridge Extra,
which features access to selected journal articles as well as fun competitions
and special offers. And recently, we added the Wiley-Blackwell Language &
Linguistics Compass Discussion Forum, which allows users to read selected articles
and post comments about them. Link to these features using the url above!
The Publications pages are a popular area of LINGUIST. Be sure to use them for
finding linguistics publications on the particular language or linguistic subfield
of your interest. And please remember that your donation enables us to keep this
resource up and running! Help us reach our fund drive goal by making a donation
at http://linguistlist.org/donation/index.html.

This Year the LINGUIST List hopes to raise $60,000. This money will go to help keep
the List running by supporting all of our Student Editors for the coming year.

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University and as such
can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is a registered 501(c)
Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number is 38-6005986. These donations
can be offset against your federal and sometimes your state tax return (U.S. tax
payers only). For more information visit the IRS Web-Site, or contact your
financial advisor.
Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will match any
gift you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this entails your contacting
your human resources department and sending us a form that the EMU Foundation fills
in and returns to your employer. This is generally a simple administrative procedure
that doubles the value of your gift to LINGUIST, without costing you an extra penny.
Please take a moment to check if your company operates such a program.
Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
