SECOL LXXVI (76) will be hosted in New Orleans by Tulane University, Wednesday
through Friday, April 8 - 10,, 2009. 

SECOL LXXVI (76) will be hosted in New Orleans by Tulane University, Wednesday
through Friday, April 8 - 10, 2009. The conference theme is 'Language, Politics,
and Law'.  Twenty minute papers and panels lasting 100 minutes relating to the
conference theme are especially requested. Research findings in all areas of
language and linguistics are of course welcome. Electronic submissions are
strongly preferred. 
Hard-copy submissions will be considered.  All relevant details can be found at
the website www.secol.org.  You must be a member of SECOL to submit a proposal
for a paper, and you must register for the conference.  

Membership information is available at the SECOL website, as is information
about contact persons, accommodations, and registration.  As can be seen from
the call at the SECOL website, we also strongly encourage student submissions. 
Student members of SECOL are eligible to apply for the Reza Ordoubadian award,
while all members are eligible to apply for the newly established Bernstein
Award for the best paper on Language and Politics and the Steve Gross award for
the best paper on Language Contact, Pidgins, Creoles, Code Switching, or L1
Attrition.
