(This issue has been modified to include the site link)
I've created a site that contains the text of ''Ologies and Isms'', the
dictionary of affixes that was published by Oxford University Press in 2002
but which is now out of print and whose copyright has reverted to me:
http://www.affixes.org
The site contains all 1,250+ entries from the book, heavily cross-indexed
and illustrated by more than 10,000 examples. Alphabetical and thematic
indexes and a search facility help visitors to find what they are looking for.
My intention is to enlarge and expand the dictionary as time permits in the
hope that it will prove a permanently useful online resource for students
and those generally interested in language. I hope also that it will prove
a companion to my long-running World Wide Words site.
Your comments and criticism, both of style and execution, will be most
welcome as personal communications to me at the address below.
