Tenure-track Assistant Professor in TESOL (PreK-12)
Teachers College, Columbia University
Position: The TESOL Program at Teachers College, Columbia University is
seeking a scholar with demonstrated teaching and research interests in
PreK-12 education.
Responsibilities: Teach graduate courses in some of the following areas:
PreK-12 pedagogy (including content-based instruction), teacher cognition,
second language literacy, teacher education, and practitioner research.
Also desirable is the ability to teach courses in any of the following:
classroom-based discourse, L2 materials and curriculum development, and
research literacy in TESOL and Applied Linguistics. Maintain an active
research and publication profile. Supervise PreK-12 student teachers,
advise master's and doctoral students, collaborate with teachers in
schools, and participate in program administrative and development
activities. Provide leadership in the area of K-12 teacher education.
Qualifications: Earned doctorate in TESOL or Applied Linguistics; evidence
of scholarly accomplishment in any of the areas noted above; a minimum of
three years of classroom teaching experience in the U.S. public schools;
successful experience working with preservice and inservice teachers;
service to the field of TESOL; leadership potential in Pre-K12 education;
the ability to work collaboratively.
