Postdoctoral Research Assistant, AHRC-funded 'Whose Voices?' Project

(Fixed-term until 31 December 2010)

A full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant is required to work with
Professor Clive Upton (School of English) and Dr Bethan Davies and
Professor Sally Johnson (Department of Linguistics and Phonetics) on a
project funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) entitled:
'Whose Voices? Language Ideological Debates on the Interactive Web-site of
the 'BBC Voices' Project'.

With a Ph.D. in sociolinguistics, text/discourse analysis, media discourse
or a related discipline, you will have the ability to produce high quality
academic publications, and to give papers in English at international
conferences. You will be conducting all primary research and literary
searches, as well as being responsible for all administration processes
such as organising meetings, liaising with the BBC and teaching for up to
six hours per week term time by agreement with the main investigators.

The appointment will be made as soon as possible. You will be required to
work on the project from the date of appointment to 31 December 2010.
