Description:

The Max Planck Society has funded an International Max Planck Research
School (IMPRS) for Language Sciences starting in September 2009, to
facilitate the collaborative research efforts of language scientists of
four faculties and three major research institutes (Max Planck Institute
for Psycholinguistics, Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and
Behaviour, Centre for Language Studies ) on the campus of Radboud
University Nijmegen. The IMPRS offers an unrivalled training and research
environment in the language sciences, allowing interdisciplinary work of
the highest standard. 

Three doctoral studentships are now advertised in any field contributing to
the science of language, from e.g. cognitive neuroscience of language,
psycholinguistics or linguistics. The studentships are renewable, in the
normal case, for up to 3 years. Students will receive a monthly salary
sufficient to cover living costs.

Applicants must have an MA in a relevant field. The medium of the School is
English, and applicants must be able to show evidence of good language
competence. Applicants should study the web pages of the contributing
institutes (see below), and name potential supervisor(s) in the relevant
institutes. They should also indicate in maximal 150 words their research
areas or topics of special interest. Applications should also include a
motivation letter, a vita (with academic grades), and the names and email
addresses of two academic referees who have agreed to write.
