One-Year Replacement Position Opening for Fall 2009 (Funds Pending)

Lecturer of Language and Education

Position: The TESOL and Applied Linguistics Programs at Teachers College,
Columbia University, are seeking a lecturer with demonstrated teaching
experience and research interests in L2 assessment. This is a one-year
replacement position.

Responsibilities: Candidates will need to teach graduate courses in L2
assessment. Candidates should also have the ability to teach courses in one
or more other areas: SLA, pedagogical English grammar or L2 pedagogy. The
teaching load is five courses per academic year. Candidates might also be
asked to teach one course during a summer session for extra pay. Candidates
will need to advise M.A. students, serve on dissertation committees,
participate in routine program administrative activities and maintain an
active research and professional profile in TESOL and/or Applied Linguistics. 

Qualifications: Earned doctorate in TESOL or AL, evidence of scholarship
potential in language assessment. Scholarship potential in other areas of
TESOL or AL is also desired. Candidate must have a record of successful ESL
and/or EFL teaching experience, a demonstrated record of graduate level
teaching, evidence of service to the field of TESOL or AL, the ability to
perform administrative duties, and the ability to work collaboratively.
