Description:
The Spanish Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación (MICINN) will soon publish a call
for applications for 4-year research assistantships associated to financed
Research Projects starting on 2010 (FPI Program).
The group Lingüística y Ciencia Cognitiva (L&CC) at the Centro de Ciencias
Humanas y Sociales (CCHS) of the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas
(CSIC) has been assigned one of such positions for the Project FFI2009-07114
entitled "Event structure and the lexical-syntactic construction of sentences.
Theory and experimentation" (PI: Dr. Violeta Demonte). This project intends to
study diverse phenomena on the lexicon-syntax-semantics interface.
The position includes a monthly stipend, coverage by the Social Security
system, and university fees related to doctoral study. The assistantship also
includes the possibility of applying for grants for short-term stays abroad. Annual
renewal of the assistantship will depend on successful progress in the doctoral
program and collaboration on the research project. The first 24 months have the
status of a scholarship and the following 24 months have a work-contract form.
The interested candidates should have finished his/her degree (licenciatura/
grado -bachelor, degree- / master) on linguistics, philology, glottology,
exceptionally psychology, after January 1st 2006. They should have a background
in formal linguistics, preferably generative grammar (especially in syntax and
the lexicon-syntax interface). They should be ready to carry out his/her own
research on a topic related the group's one, leading to a PhD.
Both the prerequisites for candidates and the conditions of the grant will be
described in the above mentioned call where candidates will also find the
application form to be filled in order to apply for the grant. We expect this
call to be published at the BOE (Boletín Oficial del Estado) around the middle
of January 2010. Note that candidates should be European community citizens or
residents.
As the application for these assistantships will be handled through the Spanish
Ministry of Science and Innovation, individuals who are interested in applying
are advised to contact us in advance. The Ministry's application period will be
open just for 15 days, therefore the documents required for the application
(please check last year's call) should be prepared well in advance. For
