Meeting Description:
1 International Conference on Communicative Communities - Community of Hunters
The Institute of Linguistics at the Adam Mickiewicz University, the Polish
Association of Hunters and the Wielkopolska Hunting Club will hold an
international conference devoted to the community of hunters. Our aim is to
provide a forum for discussion for hunters and hunting lovers in those fields
where language of hunters, hunting customs and culture as well as hunting-
related problems and hunters' interests converge, and to facilitate
integration
between hunters from all around the world. The conference will be held over
3 days, from 28th to 30th June 2010 in Poznan, Poland.
We invite papers on the following topics:
1) Language of hunters
- as a factor integrating the community
- as a factor isolating the community from society
- the development of the language of hunters
- hunting terminology related problems
- problems connected with the establishment of new terminology on invasive
species
2) Hunting culture
- tradition
- customs
- cuisine
- music
- art
- literature
- cinematography
- tales and stories
- jokes
3) Associations and clubs for hunters all around the world
4) Hunting-related education
- educational materials for children
- educational materials for adults
- stereotypical image of hunting and hunters
- methods of fighting with hunting-related stereotypes
- building hunting stereotypes in the media
- cooperation of hunters with schools and other organizations
5) Female-hunters (Diana) all around the world
6) History of hunting all around the world
Call for Papers
Conference languages: Polish and English.
Presentations, papers and session proposals
Presentation slots should not exceed 30 minutes (20 minutes long
presentation plus 10 minutes for questions). Power Point presentations are
invited. The papers, depending on the topic, will be published in the
journals of the Institute of Linguistics and the Polish Association of
Hunters after reviews. Session proposals and any questions should be
submitted to the following address: klub.dian at gmail.com
Submission of abstracts: The abstracts should be sent by the end of
February 2010 together with the registration form (see below).
Abstract acceptance notification: 15 March 2010.
Submission of full papers: 30 August 2010.
Conference fee:
The conference fee includes the cost of the conference gala dinner, 3 lunches,
tea breaks and publication of papers after reviews. We do not provide
accommodation.
Early payment by 20 March 2010: Euro 150.
Payment from 21 March to 20 April 2010: Euro 175.
Payment after 21 April or on arrival: Euro 200.
No partial registration is envisaged, so it will not be possible to register
for just one or two days.
Cancellation policy:
In case of cancellations the conference fee is not refunded.
