Research Assistantship for AHRC-funded project on Romance historical
morphology.
Academic-related research-staff grade 7: salary £28,839-35,469
The Faculty seeks a Research Assistant to work on the current AHRC-funded
project entitled 'Autonomous Morphology in Diachrony: comparative evidence
from the Romance languages'. This fixed-term post is available from 1 April
2009 until 31 December 2010.
Responsibilities of the Research assistant
The successful candidate will:
help identify and evaluate the project's corpus of Romance inflectional
data, establishing how these can be consulted if unavailable in Oxford
be responsible for the entry of data onto the project's database
help oversee presentation of the database on the project's website
familiarize him/herself with developments in morphological theory
familiarize him/herself with developments in Romance linguistics
assist in presentations and discussions
help co-ordinate arrangements for international Workshops connected to
the project
participate regularly in various classes and meetings in connection with
the project
Candidates should have general knowledge of morphological theory, and of
the Romance languages and Romance linguistics, and a detailed knowledge of
at least two Romance languages. The successful candidates should possess a
higher degree (normally Ph.D.), and research experience in linguistics. The
candidates should have good IT skills, and preferably some experience of
databases.
The Research Assistant will be provided with workspace and IT equipment in
the Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages, which will be their normal
place of work.
The closing date for applications is noon on Friday 20 February. Interviews
