Call for Papers
The 44th Linguistics Colloquium is to take place at the New Bulgarian
University, Sofia from the 09.09.2009 - 12.09.2009, organized by the Department
for Foreign Languages and Cultures and the Bulgarian Association of Germanists.
We kindly invite participants. The topic of the conference is:
"Globalization, Intercultural Communication and Language"
In accordance with the tradition of the Linguistics Colloquium, the topic is
fairly open, so that participants can report a wide range of research findings.
In the Parallel sessions contributions from various areas of linguistics are
welcome. The following strands are proposed as foci for parallel sessions:
Language and culture
Language and society
Lexical semantics and phraseology
Text pragmatics
Multilingualism
Studies in applied linguistics
Contrastive language studies
Papers can be submitted in German, English and French. To provide time for
discussion of each paper (approx. 10 minutes), talks should not exceed 20 minutes.
Paper proposals (including a summary of approx. 15 lines) should be sent, via
e-mail by the 30th April 2009 to lingkoll at nbu.bg

Call for Papers
International Workshop: Strategies for Optimizing The Quality Standard in
English for Specific Purposes. (QS-HE-ESP)
Workshop themes include: ESP Teacher Training, Quality management in ESP,
Programmes for ESP e-learning, Materials development, state of the art
strategies in ESP education, Teaching ESP with the New Technologies, Learner
Autonomy, ESP Research, etc.

Deadline for application: March 10th , 2009
The papers will be published in a volume with ISBN.
Extended date for the submission of papers in extension: March 22nd, at midnight
Romanian time (GMT+2H). Papers submitted after this deadline will not be
included in the volume.
Authors will be notified about acceptance between 23rd- 30th of March.
Types of Contributions:
1. Attending in person (in presentia):
a) Oral presentation - 15 min
b) Poster presentation (A1 or A0 or in between)
c)Computer-based poster
2. Virtual presentation (in absentia):
If you wish your paper to be published in the Workshop Volume but you are not
able to attend in person, you can register for a "virtual presentation".
Virtual authors should submit their papers for the reviewing process before the
paper submission deadline. After the review process, virtual authors will submit
a Power Point presentation with voice.
Registered virtual authors will receive a copy of the Workshop Proceedings, a
certificate of presentation in absentia and an invoice of the registration fee.
The shipment will be made by post after the workshop date.
