Meeting Description:

AJIHLE is an association of junior researchers working in the field of
historical linguistics and the history of linguistics who have not still done
their PhD. It was founded in 1999 with the aim of working as a meeting point for
discussions and linguistic debate, and most of all, for the interchange of ideas
between philologists and linguists. After eight editions (Córdoba 2001,
Salamanca 2002, Jaén 2003, Madrid 2004, Sevilla 2005, Granada 2006, Alcalá de
Henares 2007 and Barcelona 2008), the 9th edition will take place in Palma de
Mallorca, at the Universitat de les Illes Balears. 

Call for Papers

This congress will count with the participation of recognized specialists in
this area. Apart from individual contributions, there will also be two round
tables, organized by the association members, which will present two
problematical topics related with the history of Spanish and with
historiographical issues.

Due to participants' requirement, the call for papers deadline has been
postponed until 15th February. Contributions to the 9th Historical Linguistics
Junior Researchers Meeting must be related with the following areas:
- Historical phonetics and phonology. Ortography.
- Historical morphosyntax and syntax.
- Textual criticism.
- Historical lexicography, lexicology and semantics.
- History of linguistics and of linguistic ideas.
- History of Spanish and history of linguistics' methodology.
- Historical phraseology.

To participate in the meeting, an abstract around 500 word is firstly required.
The meeting official language will be Spanish.

Debido a la petición de los participantes, el plazo para enviar las propuestas
de comunicación ha sido ampliado hasta el 15 de febrero. Las propuestas de
comunicación deben estar relacionadas con las siguientes áreas:

- Fonética y fonología históricas. Grafemática.
- Morfología y sintaxis históricas.
- Crítica textual.
- Lexicografía, lexicología y semántica históricas.
- Gramaticografía y ortografía.
- Historia de la lingüística y de las ideas lingüísticas.
- Metodología de la historia de la lengua española y la historiografía

- Fraseología histórica.

The 40th Pozna? Linguistic Meeting (PLM2009) will take place on 2-5 September
2009 in Gniezno, Poland. The leitmotif of the Meeting will be 'Variants,
Variability, Variation'. 

Call for Papers

We are happy to announce that the 40th Pozna? Linguistic Meeting (PLM2009) will
take place on 2-5 September 2009 in Gniezno, Poland. The Meeting will be
organised by the School of English, Adam Mickiewicz University, Pozna?.

Submissions
The leitmotif of the 40th PLM will be "Variants, Variability, Variation".
Proposals of papers for both oral and poster sessions related to this main
theme, as well as to other fields of modern linguistics, are invited.

Each paper in the oral sessions will be given 30 minutes, including 10 minutes
for discussion. Poster sessions will be an integral part of the conference
programme. The language of the conference is English.

We also invite proposals for thematic workshop sessions. Slots will be reserved
for six such sessions, 6 to 9 speakers each. Please note that the organiser(s)
of a workshop session will be expected to submit a description of the session
(to be reviewed by our International Advisory Board), solicit submissions,
organise the reviewing process, and submit a complete set of abstracts by the
main submission deadline.

All regular submissions will be reviewed by our International Advisory Board.

Important Dates
Submission deadline for workshop session proposals*: 15 February 2009.
Notification of acceptance for workshop session proposals: 8 March 2009.
Main submission deadline for all abstracts (papers, posters and workshop
sessions): 1 May 2009.
Notification of acceptance for papers and posters: 1 June 2009.

*A proposal for a workshop session should include a clear statement of its
objectives/topic/message (about 250 words) as well as at least four names of 
proposed speakers (with affiliations) and a sample bibliography.

The Venue
Our venue, Collegium Europaeum Gnesnense, is located in the city of Gniezno. The
main CEG building has lecture halls, computer labs, and offices. Lodging for PLM
participants will be provided in two high standard halls of residence with
single and double rooms, each with a private bathroom. The campus is located
within walking distance (20 minutes) from the city centre.

Gniezno is a city of about 70,000 inhabitants, located some 50 km east of
Pozna?. It boasts a history of over a thousand years, having been the first
capital of Poland in the 10th and 11th centuries. The city centre includes the
magnificent 14th-century Gniezno Cathedral, while several tourist routes
traverse the surrounding scenic countryside.
