We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.
In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.
To post to LINGUIST, use our convenient web form at

Hello, I am a student in Linguistics and Psycholinguistics.
I'm going through a project and I would like to know what essay/article
should be regarded as basic reference for the concept of
''imagineability'', often referred to in psycholinguistic experiments. I
have troubles in understanding this concept from what I read. I would
especially like to grasp the differences between the concepts of
''imagineability'' and ''concreteness''. This difference is not always
clearly stated in the literature. I would appreciate not only
bibliographical references but also, if possible, statements by the
repondents concerning their own view as for the difference ''imageability /
concreteness''.
I shall post a summary of the responses, quoting the respondents only upon
their explicit agreement.
