Description:
As part of an "Interuniversity Attraction Pole" in partnership with four
Belgian universities and a German university and financed by the Belgian
Science Policy, the Royal Museum for Central Africa recruits for the
Linguistics Service a researcher at the rank of assistant to undertake
research on grammaticalization in the Bantu languages.
Profile:
The candidate should have completed a PhD-thesis in African linguistics. A
good knowledge of as well as publications on the Bantu languages and/or
other languages of the Niger-Congo family in fields such as the comparative
and historical linguistics, language description and language typology
(especially grammaticalization) will be particularly appreciated.
The candidate should be capable of working in team and of integrating
himself into a collective research program.
A good knowledge of English is indispensable. The command of French and/or
Dutch is an additional asset.
We Offer:
A full-time temporary contract (2 years) starting from the 1st of September
2009.
