Semantics and Linguistic Theory (SALT) is the major North-American conference on formal semantics as a subfield of linguistics.

Call for Papers:

The Departments of Linguistics at Simon Fraser University and the University of British Columbia are pleased to invite abstracts for submission to the 20th Semantics and Linguistics Theory Conference (SALT 20) to be held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, April 29 - May 1, 2010.

Topics:

Abstracts are invited for oral presentations (30-minute presentation plus 10-minute discussion) or posters on any topic in natural language semantics with relevance to linguistic theory. In addition to regular sessions, there will be a special thematic session on the Semantics-Pragmatics Interface.  We encourage abstract submissions on this theme from various perspectives, including, but not limited to: formal semantics, formal pragmatics, philosophy, psycholinguistics, and cognitive science. 

Instructions for Abstract Submission:

Abstracts are not to exceed two pages in letter-size (8.5''x 11'') paper, including examples and references, with 1'' margins on all sides and 12pt font size. The abstract should have a clear title but should not identify the author(s). The abstract must be submitted electronically in PDF format, using the electronic submission website accessible from:  http://www.sfu.ca/linguistics/salt20/submit.html.  

When you submit your abstract, you will be asked to indicate whether you would like your abstract to be considered for a talk, poster, or both. Submissions are limited to 1 individual and 1 joint abstract per author, or 2 joint abstracts per author.

Important Dates:

Submission deadline: December 1, 2009, 11:59pm Pacific Standard Time
Notification of acceptance: Mid February, 2010
Conference date: April 29 - May 1, 2010
