Applicants should have a PhD degree in linguistics, with expertise in one
or more of the following areas: language variation and language change,
linguistic theory and second language acquisition, and sign linguistics.
The appointees will (i) teach relevant undergraduate and postgraduate
courses; (ii) supervise projects and theses of undergraduate, MA, MPhil and
PhD students; (iii) develop research in his/her areas of expertise; and
(iv) undertake administrative duties. Appointments will normally be made on
contract basis for up to three years initially commencing August 2010,
which, subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or
substantiation later.
Salary and Fringe Benefits:
Salary will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and
experience. The University offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package
including medical care, plus a contract-end gratuity for appointments of
two years or longer and housing benefits for eligible appointees. Further
