School of Languages and Comparative Cultural Studies, UQ St Lucia

Excellent Opportunity for early career or more established staff to work in
a stimulating and challenging teaching and research team environment.

The School of Languages and Comparative Cultural Studies is one of the
largest Schools of this type in Australia, with some 46 academic staff
teaching and researching in eight languages: Chinese (Mandarin), French,
German, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Russian, and Spanish.  The School
also offers undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Applied Linguistics,
Linguistics and TESOL as well as translation and interpreting in both
Chinese and Japanese as part of its comprehensive languages and studies
programs. 
The Chinese program has three undergraduate streams, which are designed
respectively for beginners, post-secondary and native speakers.  It has a
very strong postgraduate program, offering a Graduate Certificate, Graduate
Diploma and a Masters in Chinese Translation and Interpreting.

With a staff of 46 academic staff that are widely published internationally
and have extensive research backgrounds, the School is looking to make a
new appointment to contribute to existing research strengths and establish
new directions within the School.

The Role:  In the role of Lecturer in Chinese, you will be expected to
teach, undertake research, supervise research students and carry out
administrative duties within the School.

The Person:   You should possess a PhD, in one area of Chinese studies,
preferably linguistics, literature and cultural studies.  You should also
be able to show evidence of a successful teaching, administrative, ongoing
research and publication profile.

Remuneration:  This is a full-time, continuing appointment at Academic
level B.  The remuneration package will be in the range $83,033.72 -
$98,602.26 per annum including employer superannuation contributions of 17%.
