The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use
non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge
that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.

Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding
employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international
employment page http://linguistlist.org/jobs/jobnet.html. This page has been set
up so that people can report on the employment standards of various countries.

Job Rank: Lecturer

Specialty Areas: Applied Linguistics

Required Language(s): Chinese, Mandarin (cmn)

Description:

Lecturer in Chinese

The School of Languages seeks to make an established academic appointment
in Chinese language and translating and interpreting in order to support
the School's existing taught PG programme, to develop and expand ab initio
Chinese within our portfolio of in-house and collaborative applied-language
UG programmes, and to enhance the School's research profile in Translation
and Interpreting Studies and/or Linguistics. The School aims to provide a
stimulating environment in (theoretical, applied or descriptive)
linguistics and translation and interpreting studies while fostering the

In teaching, the successful candidate will have expertise in teaching
Chinese-to-English translating and/or interpreting at UG and PG level, as
well as ab initio Chinese language. In research the successful candidate
could either already have an established profile (in terms of RAE
submission and PhD-student supervision) in an area relevant to the
activities of the Centre, or the potential to develop such a profile.

Informal inquiries should be directed to Dr Dongning Feng, Lecturer in
