Description:

The University of Konstanz is one of the nine Universities of Excellence in
the Federal Republic of Germany. 

The Department of Linguistics invites applications for a Postdoc/Ph.D.
Position in Semantics (Salary Scale 13 TV-L).

The positions are available for 3 years starting October 1st, 2010 or as
soon as possible thereafter.

The appointments for the Postdoc position is at 100% of Salary Scale 13
TV-L (in principle, this position can be divided into two half-time
positions), for the Ph.D. position at 50% of Salary Scale 13 TV-L.

The research positions are available within the project 'Decomposition of
comparative and superlative quantificational noun phrases at the
syntax/semantics interface' funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).
The aim of the project is to develop a fully compositional analysis of noun
phrases involving comparative or superlative morphology. It applies methods
from formal semantics, syntax and pragmatics, as well as empirical methods
in corpus linguistics. The research project is based at the Department of
Linguistics and the Zukunftskolleg of the University of Konstanz.

The successful candidate will have an appropriate degree (Master for PhD
position or PhD for Post Doc position) in Linguistics as well as a
background in formal semantics, and ideally in syntax and/or pragmatics.
Good command of English is required.
