Meeting Description:

Workshop on the Representation of Time in Asian Languages (WRTAL 2011) will be held 26-28 October 2011 at Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan. The Institute of Linguistics, Academia Sinica will be hosting this workshop. This workshop provides a forum to share state-of-the-art research developments in typological studies of Asian languages on the theme of 'representation of time' (e.g., tense, aspect, modality).

Call for Papers:

Abstracts are cordially invited for 30-minute oral presentations on studies in one or more Sino-Tibetan, Altaic, Austronesian and/or Austroasiatic languages. 

Deadline for Abstracts: 30 April, 2011.
Notification of Acceptance: 30 June, 2011.

Abstract Guidelines:

-Abstracts should be written in English.
-Abstracts must be single-spaced, in 12-point type, with one inch margins and should not exceed one A4 page (i.e., 20.99cm by 29.7cm) including references and examples.
-E-mail 2 copies of the abstract, one of which includes the name(s) of author(s), affiliation(s), and e-mail address(es); and the other (for anonymous review) identified by title only. 
-Please submit your electronic text in Microsoft Word format or in PDF format if special characters and graphs are embedded. 
-Submit abstracts to the following email address, typology at gate.sinica.edu.tw. Identify your email message with the subject heading, "WRTAL-2011 Abstract". The text of the message should explicitly list the author's name(s), the title of the paper, and the preferred email contact address.

Papers and Post-Conference Publications:

Presenters will be asked to submit full papers written in English for a volume of pre-conference proceedings. Full papers are due by the deadline of 30 September, 2011.

Presenters are encouraged to submit their post-conference revised papers to Language and Linguistics, a double-blind peer-reviewed international journal included in the LLBA, MLA, SSCI and A&HCI citation indexes published by the Institute of Linguistics, Academia Sinica.
