International Journal of Language Studies (IJLS)(ISSN: 2157-4898; eISSN:
2157-4901) is the continuation of Iranian Journal of Language Studies
(IJLS)--ISSN 17355184, eISSN 17357047--which was published until October
2009. Since October 2009, From volume 3 Issue 4 onwards, the journal
received its new title and ISSN numbers.
International Journal of Language Studies (IJLS) is unique in that it
provides a forum devoted to the discussion of topics and issues in language
study which is of interdisciplinary significance. It publishes
contributions from researchers in all fields relevant to the study of
language. The investigation of language and its communicational functions
are treated as a concern shared in common by those working in anthropology,
the arts, artificial intelligence, education, ethology, literature,
linguistics, physiology, philosophy, psychology and the social sciences. In
International Journal of Language Studies (IJLS), emphasis is placed on the
implications of current research for establishing common theoretical
frameworks within which findings from different areas of study may be
accommodated and interrelated. By focusing attention on the many ways in
which language is integrated with other forms of communicational activity
and interactional behaviour, papers published by International Journal of
Language Studies (IJLS) intend to explore ways of developing a science of
language which is not restricted by existing disciplinary boundaries.
International Journal of Language Studies (IJLS) publishes papers of any
length, if justified, as well as review articles surveying developments in
the various fields of language study (including language teaching, language
testing, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, (critical) discourse analysis, ESP,
curriculum development, politeness research, and so on). Also, a
considerable number of pages in each issue are devoted to critical book
reviews.
