Full Title: Studies in Hispanic and Lusophone Linguistics
Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics; Portuguese; Spanish
Call Deadline: 31-Dec-2011
Call for 'State of the Discipline' papers
Studies in Hispanic and Lusophone Linguistics is a refereed journal that
publishes work in all sub-fields of linguistics and from all theoretical
approaches on Hispanic and Lusophone languages, including not only Spanish
and Portuguese, but also Catalan, Galician, Spanish- and Portuguese-based
creoles.
Each issue of Studies in Hispanic and Lusophone Linguistics has a section
entitled 'State of the Discipline'. Each State of the Discipline section
contains one paper that presents a state of the art on a topic of interest
to the journal's audience. Past topics have been corpus linguistics, first
language acquisition, linguistics and speech technology, computational
linguistics, and creole studies. The two 2011 issues have as topics loan
words and variation in second language acquisition.
We are currently seeking proposals for topics for future State of the
Discipline papers. Proposals should include a cover page with the proposed
topic, contact information for the potential author(s), and a brief
biographical note about the potential author(s). The remainder of the
proposal should include a description of 1 to 2 pages that defines the
topic, the perspective from which the potential author(s) will write, and
addresses why this topic will be of interest to the readership of Studies
in Hispanic and Lusophone Linguistics. The first accepted proposal will be
for the Spring 2012 issue, with the final version of the paper due to the
journal's editor no later than September 2011.
Please submit proposals to the editor of Studies in Hispanic and Lusophone
Linguistics, Timothy Face, electronically at facex002 at umn.edu.
