Conference Announcement:
The aim of the conference is to create a forum for communication scholars that
engage in teaching communication skills in tertiary institutions and
practitioners in corporate organizations to share their experience among
themselves. The objectives of the conference include, among others:
-To deliberate on the role of Communication skills in the era of globalization.
-To find out about the current trends in communication skills research and practice.
-To discuss the state of the art in developing curriculum for communication
skills in higher education and organizations.
-To deliberate on the way forward for enhancing communication skills research
and practice in higher education and organizations.
Call for Papers
The conference will have as its theme 'Academic and Professional Communication
in the Global World: the Way Forward', and the following sub-themes:
- The role of Communication in the era of globalization
- Current trends in communication research and practice.
- Communication and Conflict management/transformation
- Communication for academic purposes
- Health communication
- Interpersonal communication
- Change communication
- Business communication
- Strategic communication
- Organizational communication
- Development communication
- Gender communication
- Family communication
- Speech writing and rhetoric
- Applied Linguistics
- ESP/EAP
- Communication skills and ICTs
Submissions are invited for individual papers, posters, and colloquia.
Abstracts of not more than 300 words should be e-mailed to the following
panel: comm2010 at mopipi.ub.bw or comm2010 at yahoo.com. Authors should present the
abstracts in 1.5" spacing, Times New Roman 12, with the author(s) names,
affiliation and contact details (postal address, fax, phone, email) included.
The sub-themes should be specified. The abstracts submitted will be reviewed
by a sub-committee of the conference committee before final acceptance of the
proposal for presentation at the conference. After the acceptance of the
abstract, the author or authors should write up the conference paper and be
ready to present it paper at the conference.
Key Dates
The deadline for the submission of abstracts: April 23, 2010
Notification about acceptance of papers: June 23, 2010
Conference duration: December 5-8, 2010.
