12th International Conference of SIG Writing
Short Title: SIG Writing 2010
Date: 08-Sep-2010 - 10-Sep-2010
Location: Heidelberg, Germany
Contact: Joachim Grabowski
Contact Email: info at sigwriting2010.de
Meeting URL: http://www.sigwriting2010.de
Linguistic Field(s): Applied Linguistics; Cognitive Science
Meeting Description:
The scope of the conference has typically been very broad, and we hope to draw
together once again a wide range of researchers and professionals in the area of
writing. The aim of the SIG Writing conferences is to promote interaction among
researchers (linguists, cognitive and social psychologists, educational and
developmental specialists) interested in understanding the cognitive, social,
and developmental processes involved in writing, including the design of writing
instruction in various educational settings and the exploration of the functions
of writing in different social and institutional contexts.
Conference fees will be announced, upon final calculation, within the next
weeks. However, fees will probably not exceed previous SIG conferences, i.e. the
full conference fee will remain below ? 250. Notification about accepted papers
will be sent early enough to receive the early registration rates.
The special allocations of hotel capacity can already be booked via the
conference website. These rooms remain available until May, June or July,
depending on the respective hotel. However, particulary if you plan to extend
your stay in Heidelberg, e.g. over the subsequent weekend, we strongly recommend
to look for your accomodation as early as possible. Heidelberg is touristically
very popular.
We are happy to announce that Deborah McCutchen from University of Washington
agreed to give the keynote lecture.
