Meeting Description:
The annual MSCL was first held in 2006 at Moscow State University and since then
has grown to be one of the major conferences on formal linguistics in Russia.
The aim of the conference is to give young researchers an opportunity to present
their work, exchange ideas and receive feedback from more experienced colleagues.
Call for Papers
The 5th Moscow Student Conference on Linguistics (MSCL 5) will be held on April
3-4, 2010 at the Independent University of Moscow. Abstracts are solicited from
all areas of formal linguistics including but not limited to Phonology,
Morphology, Syntax, and Semantics. The key topic of this year's conference is
Scrambling, Free Word Order and Related Phenomena. While submissions on the
conference's key topic are especially encouraged, all other abstracts will be
given equal consideration.

How to submit an abstract?
Abstracts should be anonymous and may not exceed two pages, including data,
references and diagrams. Abstracts should be typed in at least 11-point font,
with one-inch margins. Only abstracts from students (i.e., those not having
defended a PhD by the submission deadline) will be considered. Accepted papers
will be allotted 20 minutes for presentation plus 10 minutes for discussion.
The deadline for submissions is February 14, 2010. Note that submissions are
limited to one individual and one joint abstract per author, or two joint
abstracts per author. To submit an abstract send an e-mail to the conference e-
mail mscl.submission at gmail.com with a PDF-copy of your abstract attached to the
message. Include the following information in the body of the message:
- title of the paper
- name(s) of author(s)
- affiliation
