Abstract:

The study deals with the linguistic acculturation at the end of the 17th
century of the French Protestant Huguenots, who also sought refuge in
Brandenburg. The study focuses on the reconstruction of the linguistic
integration of these migrants, who in the course of time gave up their
native French language and went over to German. An analysis of the
linguistic situation in three different Huguenot colonies shows that the
processes of language change differed widely, depending on the place and
context.
