Newcastle University is seeking to appoint 2 Lecturers in Applied
Linguistics based in the Applied Linguistics Section of the School of
Education, Communication & Language Sciences. You will be expected to make
a major contribution to research, research supervision, teaching and
administration of the Section and School.
Expertise in any area of Applied Linguistics is welcome, but applications
are especially welcome in the following areas: cross/intercultural
communication; second language teacher education; multilingualism; spoken
and written discourse; corpus linguistics; second language acquisition.

The Post
Grade F 32/35 £31,671 - £35,646 p.a.
The responsibilities will include the following:
- To make a significant contribution to the Applied Linguistics Section's
taught postgraduate programmes in TESOL, Educational and Applied
Linguistics and Cross Cultural Communication
- To supervise/co-supervise research by Masters and Doctoral students in
Applied Linguistics/TESOL/Cross Cultural Communication
- To undertake administrative duties as required by the Head of School,
including direction of at least 1 Degree Programme
- To act as personal tutor to students
- To engage in income generation activities to support teaching and
research in the Applied Linguistics Section
- To serve on School, Faculty and University committees where appropriate
- To undertake academic duties as required by the Head of School
- To engage in high quality research leading to high quality publications
- To seek external research grants and collaborate with other members of
the School and the Centre for Research in Linguistics and Language Sciences
on major research projects
