Scandinavian Grand Tour
immaginari e viaggiatori veri come Pietro Quertini, Giuseppe Acerbi o

Scandinavian Grand Tour
The far North from the South-European point of view
South-European culture has often pictured Scandinavia as an exotic place,
a mixture of myth, legend and cultural stereotypes. From the Middle Ages
and onwards many writers and travelers while exploring the far North - such
as Pietro Querini (15th century), Giuseppe Acerbi (1773-1846) or Umberto
Nobile (1885-1978) - have contributed to the strengthening of this myth in
their accounts of fantastic adventures. This workshop is planned as a first
step to create a platform for discussing and sharing examples of South-
European travel descriptions of Scandinavia, under literary and linguistic
point of view, including travel guides.
Authors are invited to submit a max 400 word abstract (in Italian or English)
by July 30, 2010, with name(s) of author(s), title of paper, affiliation, e-mail
contact information.
Conference fees: 50 euro (students 20 euro)
Inviare il proprio abstract a (entro il 30 luglio 2010)
