Meeting Description:
The Annual Colloquium of the Henry Sweet Society for the History of Linguistic Ideas will be held at the Halifax Conference Centre of the University of Sheffield from 9 to 11 September 2010. Papers cover the whole range of the history of linguistic thought. Two particular areas of focus this year are: biography writing, and Professor John Joseph will be talking about his new biography of Saussure; and the life and work of J.R. Firth.
