Assistant Professor of Linguistics (Syntax) and (Phonology/Phonetics)

Position: The Linguistics Program at the University of Georgia invites
applications for two tenure-track positions at the assistant professor
level, one in syntax and one in phonology/phonetics, to begin August 16, 2010. 

Qualifications: Applicants should have primary research and teaching
interests in either syntax or phonology/ phonetics. A secondary area of
specialization, such as second language acquisition or language variation/
sociolinguistics, is desirable. The ideal candidate will be someone with
documented evidence of excellence in research and teaching who is eager to
engage with students and faculty in our interdisciplinary program. Evidence
of potential for grant funding is desirable. 

Responsibilities include teaching two courses per semester at either the
undergraduate or graduate level, maintaining an active research program,
and involvement with graduate student research. Ph.D. in Linguistics
required at the time of appointment.

Although the teaching and research responsibilities for these positions are
entirely within the Linguistics Program, successful applicants will be
housed in one of the tenure-granting departments in the College of Arts and
Sciences, such as English, Romance Languages, or Germanic and Slavic
Languages. Both the home department and the Linguistics Program will be
involved in the tenure process.
