Dear LINGUIST List Subscribers,
A few weeks ago, we unveiled The LINGUIST List's new interface. We hope
that you have had an opportunity to visit the site and see the changes we
have made. In addition to the new look and the improvements made to the
global site navigation, we have changed the internal layout of some
independent web modules. One of the more popular areas we've redesigned and
would like to draw your attention to is the Ask-A-Linguist question/answer
facility available here:
http://linguistlist.org/ask-ling/
The Ask-A-Linguist facility is a place where readers can submit questions
about language and linguistics to a volunteer panel of experts who then
post answers to these questions in a thread on our website. Ask-A-Linguist
panelists only respond to questions that would be of interest to a general
audience; we discourage personal, technical or research questions. To see
the kinds of questions people are asking (and what our panelists are
saying!) please visit:
http://linguistlist.org/ask-ling/querylistdisplay-usr.cfm
If you are a linguist who enjoys sharing your passion with others, please
spread the word about this unique facility that makes professional
knowledge accessible and understandable to avocational linguists.
We hope you enjoy reading Ask-A-Linguist and we welcome your feedback.
Please do not hesitate to send any questions or comments you may have to
linguist at linguistlist.org.
Please note that we are now in the second week of our annual Fund Drive. To
help keep our free services like Ask-A-Linguist functioning for another
year, please donate:

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University and as
such can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is a registered
501(c) Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number is 38-6005986. These
donations can be offset against your federal and sometimes your state tax return
(U.S. tax payers only). For more information visit the IRS Web-Site, or contact
your financial advisor.
Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will match
any gift you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this entails your
contacting your human resources department and sending us a form that the
EMU Foundation fills in and returns to your employer. This is generally a simple
administrative procedure that doubles the value of your gift to LINGUIST, without
costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if your company
operates such a program.
Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
