Job Description

Are you driven individuals who enjoy solving challenging problems in
building the next generation of web search?

At Ask.com, we are looking for candidates to join our Edison, NJ office,
where teams push web search to the next level by finding the direct answers
for user questions. Users will no longer need to browse pages and pages to
locate the piece of information they really want.

It's an exciting and challenging mission with issues such as learning user
intention, mining and classification of the web data, entity and relation
extraction, answer ranking, semantic invariance, etc.
 
Responsibilities

    * Propose and explore innovative methods for more effective question
answering
    * Improve existing answer products for the better precision and
coverage as well as the user experience
    * Build high performance software module or system to serve the user
questions
    * Contribute novel ideas to address constantly emerging challenges

 
 
Skills and Experience
 
Required

    * Hands-on experience in information retrieval and related areas, with
in-depth knowledge of NLP (experience with text mining and machine learning
is a big plus) 
    * Hands-on experience in information retrieval, machine learning and
related areas (in-depth knowledge of text mining and classification)  
    * Solid understanding of algorithmic complexity and a proven ability to
deliver quality code
    * Fast prototyping skills, familiarity with scripting languages, such
as bash, Perl, or Python
    * Self-directed and capable of working effectively in a highly dynamic
and fast-paced environment
    *  Effective problem solving skills, effective personal and group
communication skills, passion to excel
    * PhD degree in computer science or related fields, or Master degree
with 5+ years related working experience

 
 
Desired

    * Familiar with C/C++ programming language
    * Substantial knowledge of UNIX/Linux, including development
environment, command utilities
