Sign Language Linguistic Society General Meeting
Short Title: SLLS GM
Date: 30-Sep-2010 - 30-Sep-2010
Location: Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, USA
Contact: Myriam Vermeerbergen
Contact Email: mvermeer at mac.com
Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics
Meeting Description:
The Sign Language Linguistic Society (or SLLS) is the international organisation
of sign language researchers. SLLS has as its main aim the promotion of sign
language research on an international scale and the maintenance of high
scientific and ethical standards of such research. It seeks to act as a resource
to researchers and provide support to researchers in countries where such
research is just beginning. The society will encourage exchange of information
through meetings and publications.
The next General Meeting of SLLS will be held during the upcoming TISLR
conference (see www.purdue.edu/TISLR10 for more information on this conference).
During this meeting a new SLLS board will be elected from the current members.
Although everyone is welcome to attend the General Meeting, only SLLS members
are allowed to vote. For those of you who are not a member yet, we want to draw
your attention to a special deal on membership fees for SLLS in connection with
TISLR 10. Anyone who joins now for the first time can pay the regular fee of 85
for the whole period from now until TISLR11 in 2013. (The reduced fees for
student members and members from developing countries is 25.)
More information, also on how to become a member, can be found on our website:
www.slls.eu.
As a member, apart from being able to vote as the SLLS General Meeting, you will
of course enjoy all the benefits of membership. Current members may also renew
their membership now or, at the latest, at the end of TISLR10.
We hope to see you all in Purdue in September.
Kind regards,
Myriam Vermeerbergen, on behalf of the SLLS board.

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University and as
such can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is a registered
501(c) Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number is 38-6005986. These
donations can be offset against your federal and sometimes your state tax return
(U.S. tax payers only). For more information visit the IRS Web-Site, or contact
your financial advisor.
Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will match
any gift you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this entails your
contacting your human resources department and sending us a form that the
EMU Foundation fills in and returns to your employer. This is generally a simple
administrative procedure that doubles the value of your gift to LINGUIST, without
costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if your company
operates such a program.
Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
