Meeting Description: 

The 29th Meeting of the South Asian Languages Analysis Roundtable (SALA) will be
hosted by the Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore, Karnataka, India,
6-8 January 2011. In addition, a workshop on 'Language Contact in South Asia' is
planned for 10 - 31 January 2011. The Conference is organized by a local
committee consisting of Rajesh Sachdeva, P. P. Giridhar, and  Y.Sridhar Reddy,
and an international committee to be announced on the second circular. The
Keynote Speaker will be: Peri Bhaskararao (Title: 'From Speech Signal to
Morphemes: Approach from Speech Corpora of SA languages')

At this point, the following special/plenary sessions have been proposed:

a. Grammatical Structures/Analyses of under-analyzed languages of South Asia
b. Ancient Dravidian languages and indigenous grammatical traditions
c. Sanskrit grammatical tradition
d. Nilagiri languages
e. Language contact in South Asia
f. Multilingualism and multilingual education

In addition there will be other, general sessions.
