Description:
THE BUTLER HILL GROUP (http://www.butlerhill.com) supports software teams
developing linguistic technology. With our expertise in over 50 languages
and dialects, we help our clients reach new markets by extending their
products including search and information retrieval; machine translation;
proofing tools, e.g. grammar and spell checkers, thesauri; handwriting
recognition; speech technologies.
Position Responsibilities:
You will play a key role in scripting corpora collections while working
closely with stakeholders. You will work with our client in their the
Machine Translation Group on exciting new technologies.
The successful candidate will be passionate about data processing and
manipulation, and some familiarity with multilingual data processing.
In this position you will be based in the Seattle area, working remotely
with weekly meetings onsite at the client's office in Redmond. This is a
3-4 months contract with strong possibility of extension.
Position Requirements:
- BS in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of experience with proven record of scripting and corpora
manipulation in multiple languages from multiple sources.
- Testing experience
- Able to build ad-hoc scripts in order to manipulate source files
containing text.
- Proven understanding of regular expressions and finite state grammars.
- Familiarity with C# and regular expressions required.
- Familiarity with Java and Perl scripting preferred.
- Superior time management skills and strong decision-making abilities
- Able to set realistic timelines and consistently meet deadlines.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Diligence adhering to established policies and procedures. Consistently
follows copyright, terms of use, and licensing agreements as they appear
with the desired corpora, and adheres to those guidelines.
- Ability to interact with stakeholders to define requirements and react
to changing requirements.
- Fluency in multiple languages a plus.
