The workshop 'Bare nouns and Genericity' will be held at the Université
Paris Diderot - Laboratoire de Linguistique Formelle - UMR 7110 CNRS on
October 7th-8th, 2010.
The workshop is organized by the bilateral project CAPES/COFECUB 2008-
2012 Bare Nouns in Brazilian Portuguese at the syntax-semantics interface,
between the Université Paris Diderot (resp. Carmen Dobrovie-Sorin) and
the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (resp. Roberta Pires de
Oliveira). The workshop will consist of about 10 talks by researchers
involved in the above-mentioned research project, while 10 slots will be
allocated to selected talks (30 min. + 10 min. for discussion) by external
participants. The goal of the workshop is to increase the understanding of
the structural and referential properties of bare nominals across languages;
we invite submissions of abstracts bearing on any aspect of the syntax and
semantics of BNs, both in a language-specific and a crosslinguistic
perspective.The official languages of the workshop are English and French.

Call For Papers
Abstracts (.PDF or .doc format) must be submitted prior to June 26th, 2010
on the following webpage:
http://linguistlist.org/confcustom/BareNouns2010
Authors are required to submit an anonymous abstract.
After the selection procedure is over, accepted authors will be further asked
a revised abstract for diffusion and compilation of an abstract booklet.
Abstracts will not exceed two standard A4-sized, single-spaced pages
(examples, references and figures included), with a 2 cm margin on all four
sides, written in Times New Roman, 12 pt.
The first line of the abstract will contain the title of the paper in boldface
and two blank lines will be left between text and title lines.
Every author is allowed to submit a maximum of two abstracts, of which only
one as single author.
