Description:

With the sponsorship of the Society for the Humanities, the Department of
Linguistics at Cornell University invites applications for a two-year
Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship. The term of the appointment is from July 1,
2011 to June 30, 2013. The Department of Linguistics seeks a specialist in
any area of linguistics with additional expertise in critical
theory/cultural studies. The successful candidate will have a primary
background in a core area of linguistics (phonetics, phonology, syntax,
semantics), together with a sophisticated understanding of critical theory
and/or cultural studies, including but not limited to areas such as
poetics, stylistics, gender studies, queer theory, postcolonial studies,
globalization studies. The objective of the position will be to play a role
in establishing a dialogue between linguistics and allied humanities
fields. Candidates will be expected to teach two courses per year, one at
the undergraduate, one at the graduate level. PhD required.  

To ensure full consideration, candidates should send a CV, detailed
statement of research interests, writing sample, course proposals for the
courses the Mellon Fellow will teach while in residence at Cornell, and at
least three letters of recommendation by November 26, 2010 to the address
