Abstract:

Le kinyarwanda (parlé par un peu plus d'un million d'individus (les
Batutsi. les Bahutu, les Batwa) appartient a la grande famille de langues
que les linguistes désignent sous le nom de langues bantu. C'est donc une
langue à classes ou à agglutination initiale. Chaque mot comprend le
radical et un ou plusieurs affixes. Ce sont ces affixes qui servent à
caractériser le genre ou la classe et le nombre du substantif, à marquer
l'accord de celui-ci avec les autres parties du discours, à distinguer les
temps, les modes des verbes, à désigner dans la conjugaison les pronoms
sujets ou régimes. Les divers affixes et le radical sont nettement
distincts, quoique intimement soudés ensemble (préface, p.1).

	In his grammatical sketch Eugène Hurel mainly focuses on nominal and
verbal morphology of Kinyarwanda, a Bantu language of Rwanda. This
re-edition has been published as no. 07 in the LINCOM Gramatica (LINGram)
series (originally published 1911, written in French).
