Description:

Assitant Professor of Japanese: Tenure-track faculty position expected to
begin as early as August 18, 2011. The successful candidate is expected to
teach and advise in the undergraduate and graduate programs in Japanese, as
well as train, supervise, and coordinate graduate teaching assistants in
the Japanese language program, conduct a program of research in language
pedagogy, linguistics, literature or related field, and provide
professional service.  

Required Qualifications: Ph.D. or ABD in Japanese language pedagogy,
linguistics, literature or related field expected by start date of
appointment; native or near-native proficiency in Japanese and English;
demonstrated ability to teach Japanese language at all levels; experience
teaching Japanese language at the college level; and familiarity with
contemporary Japan and willingness to direct a summer study program in
Japan. Preferred Qualifications: Specialization in second language
acquisition or applied linguistics; and a record of research and
publication in linguistics, language pedagogy, literature, or related
