Meeting Description:
The 4th Biennial Meeting of the Rice Linguistics Society will be held February 5 and February 6 in Houston, Texas. The theme for this year's meeting is 'Exploring Language, Identity, and Culture'.
Presentations can address a variety of topics, but the general focus should be on the conference's theme of the formation of identity through language. We will be accepting abstracts from all subfields including, but not limited to, sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, interactional linguistics, and linguistic anthropology. Multidisciplinary and functional approaches are especially welcome. Talks will be scheduled for 20 minutes, with 10 minutes afterwards for discussion and questions. Presenters will have the opportunity to have their work published in the Rice Working Papers in Linguistics (RWPL; ISSN 1944-0081).
Two abstracts should be submitted; the first of which should be 500 words for review and the second should be 150 words for publication in the program. Both abstracts are due November 22.
Rice Linguistics Society (RLS) is a student-run organization closely connected with the Department of Linguistics at Rice University.
