Description:
Applications are invited for one two-year post-doctoral position at the
National Centre for Language Technology, School of Computing, Dublin City
University.
The work will be conducted in collaboration with IBM Research laboratories
and will be focused on the area of Natural Language Processing for Risk
Management. The project involves the automatic identification of risk
factors from text, understanding of their mutual dependence and
identification of related probabilistic information. It is part of a wider
IBM project on Risk Management. The candidate will be required to work both
in DCU and in IBM campus in Dublin.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in Computer Science, preferably in
the areas of natural language processing or information retrieval. In
particular, we are looking for candidates with a proven track record in
areas such as:
- relation mining
- information extraction
- named entity recognition
- chunking and parsing
- lexical semantics
Given the application domain, basic knowledge of probability is required
and advanced understanding of risk modeling certainly a plus.
The candidate should have a capacity for independent research and will be
happy to work in a collaborative research environment.
The two year award will be co-funded by IRCSET and IBM through IRCSET's
Enterprise Partnership Scheme. Further details on the Enterprise
Partnership Scheme can be found at http://www.ircset.ie/tabid/58/default.aspx
To apply please send a CV with at least two references to Deirdre Hogan
(dhogan at computing.dcu.ie) and Jennifer Foster (jfoster at computing.dcu.ie).
Applicants must meet IRCSET's eligibility criteria and will be assessed
independently by IRCSET.
